Introducing the Finch Family
What do you do when God calls you to do the impossible. I mean what can you do, other than follow Him. God has called us to pack up our family of seven to drive cross country to go to a school in California to learn more about Him and then go to a country unbeknownst to us for another three months. Even typing this I realize how crazy this sounds. If you don’t know us this isn’t the first time God has called us to a crazy adventure. We just finalized the adoption of our youngest daughter Athena in August and now feel called to missions school. Who could have imagined what 2019 had in store for us let alone 2020. I wanted to take a minute to let you all get to know us if you don’t already. I Amy Finch am the one writing and updating this blog. I married the love of my life and high school sweetheart Caleb not long after high school. I went on a missions at 13 and brought the love for missions to my husband and our marriage. We became missionaries through Latin American missions but never got to serve as we ended up pregnant and thought we would have our child state side and then go. However things went drastically different. I had an emergency C-section and we welcomed our first child a little girl into the world on May 27 2005. This little girl rocked everything in my life. Her name was Nevaeh. She was born in full cardiac arrest due to a medical error. She had cerebral palsy and a host of medical issues. Needless to say the missions field and a child on a ventilator do not mix. So our plans for missions were buried deep in the dark corners or our hearts as we poured our lives into our little girl. 2008 brought a second little girl named Aaliyah into our lives who is now a fiery redheaded eleven year old with an amazing heart and a sweet spirit to match. During this time we turned our mission field attention to right here at home and opened our home to foster children. 2010 our little Nevaeh went to be with the Lord at five and a half and our hearts were destroyed and our faith was shaken. In the midst of our grief the Lord has a purpose we always believed that. In 2011 we welcomed Gianah our beautiful large eyed zeal for life funny girl who in December turns eight. I really struggled with how to grieve and yet be thankful for the miracle that is Gianah at the same time and God has a sense of humor that he poured abundantly into Gianah. 2013 brought the birth of our only son Elijah. He is just the sweetest soul you could ever find. At five Elijah struggles with some special needs but is always quick with a hug kiss or smile. 2016 brought us another little girl Azariah. At three Azariah might be small for her size but she reminds us of a chihuahua. She has a fighting spirit that is matched with the biggest heart. And last but not least the newest member of our family officially became our daughter on August 23 of this year how ever we knew and prayed about her since she was in her mother womb. See when I mentioned foster care a while back in this post we had felt called to adopt but felt like it may never happen. One of those girls we fostered is the biological mother of our newest daughter. Gods plan is always better than our own. So He has taught me to dream again. He has taught me His ways are always better than our own. Now that He as called us again, my goal is to try to stay out of His way and watch Him move. We started this blog so you all can follow along with this crazy adventure about a God who is so much bigger than we can imagine and can have a first hand look into all of our crazy tales.
